Kooza Cirque du Soleil @ Marymoor
Kooza, a production of Cirque du Soleil, is now playing @ Marymoor Park in Redmond. The show will run through July 11th! For ticket information just click the picture.
A brief introduction of the show from http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/shows/kooza/default.aspx:
KOOZA tells the story of The Innocent, a melancholy loner in search of his place in the world.
KOOZA is a return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil: It combines two circus traditions – acrobatic performance and the art of clowning. The show highlights the physical demands of human performance in all its splendor and fragility, presented in a colorful mélange that emphasizes bold slapstick humor. The Innocent's journey brings him into contact with a panoply of comic characters such as the King, the Trickster, the Pickpocket, and the Obnoxious Tourist and his Bad Dog.
Between strength and fragility, laughter and smiles, turmoil and harmony, KOOZA explores themes of fear, identity, recognition and power. The show is set in an electrifying and exotic visual world full of surprises, thrills, chills, audacity and total involvement.
Tomorrow night I finally get to watch a Cirque du Soleil show :) Super excited to get into the big tent and watch this amazing production!
***Special thanks to Chuckie for the tickets!

peliCAN, a Gulf Coast relief tee
by Frederik Wepener and Ross Zietz
A couple weeks ago, we reached out to our own art director (and Baton Rouge native), Ross Zietz, to collaborate on "PeliCAN" along with Threadless member Frederek Wepener. All proceeds from the sale of "PeliCAN" will be donated to Gulf Restoration Network. The ink was graciously donated by Sharprint and both designers donated their payment as well.
Ross Zietz: "Hearing the sadness in the voices from all my friends and family back home plus seeing all the depressing but very real images on the news and web, I just really wanted to do something about this nasty disaster."
Frederik Wepener: "Having spent my summers [on the coast of South Africa] as a boy, I can only imagine how I would feel if something similar struck the place I hold so dear."

Alaska Airlines changes hold policy
Alaska Airlines has announced a new change to their ticketing policy!! For you bargain shoppers that like to place your tickets on hold (like myself) that option is no longer there! From Alaska Airlines:
We now require immediate purchase on all reservations. We will, however, offer one free change or a full refund (on the original form of payment) within 24 hours of purchase on all tickets. The hold option removed a significant percentage of seats from availability that ended up not being purchased. In turn, this required other customers to buy higher fares or book different flights, when in reality, the seats ended up going unused. Click the logo for more details direct from their website.

Threads for Threads
PROBLEM:
In many parts of Africa a child may not attend school without a proper uniform. This is due to the strict rules about pride in appearance within most cultures. Unfortunately many areas are stricken with poverty and so countless children do not have uniforms, resulting in lack of education quickly becoming a widespread epidemic.
The government provides school uniforms where it can, but of course there are not adequate resources available for that to be enough for all children. In addition, people in these communities live far away from markets and often do not have the money to buy basic needs, including clothing. Countless children are wearing rags or nothing at all.
SOLUTION:
For every FIGS tie or bow tie you buy, a uniform is given to a child in order for them to attend school. We will start in Eastern Africa, specifically in 105 schools within Kenya and Tanzania. We hope to soon provide uniforms to children all across the world so that they can get the education they so rightly deserve, one tie at a time.
