"I'm thrilled to have Amy as host of Check, Please! Northwest" says series creator and executive producer David Manilow. “She's smart, funny and fun, and she knows Seattle’s restaurant and food scene inside and out. She'll be fantastic!"

Glitter Sale is back

Where: Downtown Seattle Goodwill

What: All year, Goodwill saves the best designer and vintage pieces for men and women—Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Dolce and Gabbana, Michael Kors—and saves them for their annual glam-a-thon fundraiser. Every single penny of the sale goes towards Goodwill’s free job training for Seattleites who need a helping hand. Last year, the sale raised $158,000.

Insider tip: We’ve been told the jewelry selection is impressive this year, so consider heading for the accessories straight away.

When: The sale runs Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13, from 9 to 6.
Another insider tip: Don’t expect to waltz in at 9:05. Folks in this town are serious about this sale. The early birds line up early, and the crowd is healthy all day long. Do we need to say it? The best designer pieces usually don’t last long.

Saturday & Sunday,
November 12 & 13, 2011
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Nissan LEAF - World Car of the Year!!

from: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-31347_7-20056076-270.html

As a herald of an electric car future, jurors for the World Car Awards named the Nissan Leaf as the 2011 World Car. The New York auto show is the yearly venue for the announcement, which also includes awards for performance, design, and environmentalism.
That latter category, the World Green Car, went to the Chevy Volt this year. The Nissan Leaf was a runner-up for the Green award.
The top three competitors for the World Car Award were the Nissan Leaf, Audi A8, and BMW 5-series. The jurors commented that "The Leaf is the gateway to a brave new electric world..." They noted its zero emissions and its generally car-like performance.
The World Car Awards organization is not affiliated with any publication. It uses a set of jurors chosen from amongst automotive journalists.
Other winners were the Ferrari 458 Italia as the World Performance Car and the Aston Martin Rapide for World Design Car.

So COMMITTED to the Sing Off

I raved about the NBC show "the Sing Off" last year - and I'm going to do it again this year!  Shows like this are so rare and with only 5 episodes I HIGHLY encourage you to tune in and check it out.  Monday and Wednesday at 8pm (2 hour episodes) featuring AMAZING and BREATHTAKING talent.  I can't even begin to explain how much talent is on this show. Ten of America's top accapella groups send your eardrums into harmonic bliss. It makes me appreciate "real music"...

My favorite group is called Committed - they are a gospel group of 6 men from Alabama.  They are so soulful and have a deep set passion for music.  I admire them for their talent and their love and devotion to their spiritual faith, something they base their performances on.  Their style is very reminiscent of Boyz II Men old school a capella, covering all "layers" of a song.  Below is a brief description of the guys from their Facebook page :
Committed is an a cappella singing group comprised of six educated, young, men who love creativity, music, and God. Beginning their group in 2003 and solidifying their sound while at school at Oakwood College in Huntsville, AL, Committed has grown to be a very sought after a cappella group for many events around the North Alabama area and various places around the country.
Committed has been compared to many a cappella groups like Take 6 and Connect 5, who both began their music careers at Oakwood College as well. However, what sets Committed apart is their versatility. Four out of six of the members are instrumentalists and all of them are able to sing various styles of music from gospel, pop, R&B, contemporary worship, and jazz. Their versatility and goal to inspire all they encounter has kept them creative and has placed them on major stages such as NBC’s “The Sing Off.”
The group had the amazing opportunity to be featured on the second season of NBC’s hit singing competition, “The Sing Off”, which will begin airing December 6, 2010. It has been their strong faith, hard work, and creativity that has gotten them to the point of being called one of the nation’s top ten a cappella groups. Committed truly believes that “with God all things are possible,” and they will continue to work towards inspiring people through music.
My Favorite performance so far...

Seriously - go get a towel before you push play!

Ladies Night Out!

You know you remember body rollin through the 90's to Silk's "Freak Me Baby" or tearing up to Shai's "Comforter".  I remember drooling over Ginuwine's abs (not the face, just the abs) in "Pony".   Back then it seemed like every wedding/couple's song was K-Ci and JoJo's "All My Life".  The accapelle version of Shai's "Baby I'm Yours" still makes my knees buckle.
Music of the 90's was the SHIT!  Are you ready re-live it live all over again?
